Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the best environment for a dog?

Some dogs are bred to live in small areas and don’t require a great deal of space for exercise. These are smaller breeds or “toy” breeds. However, small dogs are also high energy and require a great deal of attention. A good rule of thumb is that the larger the dog, the more space they will need to feel comfortable. As a result, if you live in a small apartment, a small condo, or you lack a yard, you might want to reconsider adopting a dog into your home. The best environment for a dog will be a space with plenty of room to be comfortable. The dog will also need somebody who can give the appropriate amount of attention, including the proper grooming, the proper amount of walking, and the proper amount of playing.

Are reptiles dangerous?

If you want a pet but live in a small area, you might consider getting an animal that can stay in a tank or an aquarium. If you are somebody who loves reptiles, or you live with somebody who loves reptiles, then it might be best to consider how dangerous or safe it is to keep a reptile. Many lizards and snakes are not poisonous. What’s more, they are not harmful to humans at all, and they are easy to feed and care for. Some of the more exotic snakes, like ball pythons, might appear to be dangerous, but if cared for properly and if the owner is properly educated, then those exotic snakes are perfectly safe.

Should cats be left indoor or outdoor?

This debate rages and there’s no easy answer, but the reality is that cats are very dangerous to local, neighborhood fauna. Cats will kill squirrels, rabbits, birds, and even other pets. Cats can also spread disease, and if your cat is not spayed or neutered, then it will contribute to the growing cat population and stray problem. It’s best for cats to stay indoors with brief, supervised trips into a yard. And you can even take the cat to a park if it’s leash trained!

What’s the best thing to feed a pet?

Remember that pets are not little human babies in furry clothes or a feathered coat. Do not overfeed your animals, because they will become overweight and possibly develop diabetes and other issues. Do not feed your animals processed food because they’re digestive tracts cannot handle it. Despite the popular cultural image, cats should not be given cow milk because it will make them sick, and dogs shouldn’t eat all the scraps off a table. Stick to all natural food with a low amount of carbohydrate and sodium.
