Cat Collars

Pet owners put collars on dogs as a matter of course. The dog without a pet collar is often considered to be a stray. A dog without a collar also will not have tags, and so if they do have an owner, there is no contact information. The same danger exists with cats. Cats are well-known escape artists, and even a cat who is completely an indoors cat might find a way out one day and disappear into the neighborhood. Should that happen, you could lose your beloved pet if somebody finds her and adopts her, or takes her to the pound, or just lets her continue to roam free. One of the best ways to ensure that people know she is a pet cat is to use cat collars. Cat collars, like dog collars, come in many different sizes, styles, and colors. They are widely available, and can be anything from a plain black canvas collar to a personalized leather band.

When shopping for cat collars, keep in mind that they should be loose enough to allow the cat to breathe, but not so loose that they are in danger of slipping off or being snagged by something and catching the cat in a difficult and dangerous situation. Also, if you have a cat with a collar, you should look into getting cat tags, which will have the cat’s name, medical information, and your address. This will ensure that you will be contacted, should your pet be found in the neighborhood. Cat collars are an easy, inexpensive way to help protect your cat.
